Our Curriculum

Course Curriculum

We’ve had over 15 years to hone the TFL Course, but there’s always room for more improvement! Making sure we’re teaching the right skills is key to ensuring that the Tanzanian youth of today go on to make a difference in their communities and in Tanzania as a whole. Therefore, our mission and the basis of the Course, is to develop the five essential skills of entrepreneurial servant leadership among Tanzanian youth.

Course Description

The Course has been specifically designed with a coordinated curriculum that has measurable outcomes and is directed towards the Five Big Skills in Five Focus Areas. There’s no examination at the end of the course, but students do receive a certificate of completion, and they will of course take away their newly discovered skills and personal awareness, too.

Students board with uson site for just over 3 months. During this time they’ll be able to take part in an assortment of learning activities that are both in the classroom, as well as outside in the community and local environment. All throughout the course, we encourage students to participate and develop their own personal skills.

The Mountain Climb (Mt Kilimanjaro or Mt Meru)

It’s not all academic learning at TFL though. A big part involves physical training and sport that’s all geared towards the culmination of the course. Training for this is not only physical but mental, both of which promote general wellbeing; and of course team work is very important, too. This training/conditioning takes place all throughout the course, and we will climb either Mt. Meru or Mt Kilimanjaro in the final week. This is when students are able to demonstrate not only their own physical abilities, but their willingness to work together as a team for everyone’s benefit.

The Social Aspect

Being a residential course means students who are at TFL will get to know their fellow students very well. There are social activities in the evenings, but also group discussions and debates, while on Saturdays students participate in outreach programs.
